Medhufushi Island Resort

Located in the unspoilt Meemu Atoll, the stunning tropical island of Medhufushi is 1000m in length and 200m wide, fringed by beautiful soft white sand beaches and tall swaying palm trees. Medhufushi is located south of Malé and is reached by a 40 minute sea-plane flight.

Accommodation

The resort houses a total of 120 villas, 44 of which are water villas built on columns over the tourquise blue lagoon. Each well equipped villa has been designed and built with nature in mind to offer subtle comfort and is a perfect retreat for couples and honeymooners looking for a good standard of accommodation. All villas are equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD Player, International Direct Dial telephone, wireless internet, hair dryer, tea & coffee making facilities, mini bar and safe.

44 Beach Villas (65 sqm). Scattered around the island, facing the beach. Rooms have:

14 Family Villas. Two interconnecting Beach Villas. Rooms have:
• One Double & One Twin Bed.

16 Beach Suites Villas (178 sqm). Built to face the beach with ocean view. Rooms have:
• Two Beach Villas joined with an outdoor seating area

• Sun Loungers

 

44 Water Villas (60 sqm). Built on stilts out in the lagoon, facing a sunrise or the sunset, glass fronted bedrooms allows a spectacular view of the ocean. Rooms have:
• King Size or Twin Beds
• Separate Bathtub and walk-in shower
• Private Outdoor Veranda
• Large patio with steps leading down to the sea
• Maldivian Style Swing
• Sun Loungers

 

2 Honeymoon Villas (152 sqm). Built freestanding in isolation over the lagoon. Access is by private 'Dhoni' boat. Rooms have:
• King Size Four Poster Bed
• Large sitting area & sunbathing deck
• Open Air Rain shower
• Double bath tub offering sea views
• Access by private ‘Dhoni’

Food & Drink

The main restaurant overlooks the lagoon and offers lavish buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In addition the resorts has an a la carte restaurant and Vilu bar which is constructed on stilts over the stunning lagoon offering Alfresco dining with international dishes and typical Maldivian specialties.

Sports & Recreation Activities

The resort has a large fresh water swimming pool an overwater spa which specialise in the very best of Asian inspired treatments, a well equipped air conditioned fitness centre and a small gift shop. Water sports include windsurfing, surfing, catamaran sailing and scuba diving.

Scuba Diving

The Werner Lau Dive Centre is on site. This spaciously built dive centre is superbly equipped with a range of modern and well maintained equipment. The school has tremendous knowledge of the Maldives having operated there for many years. The majority of the dive sites used are nearly exclusive due to the islands position and offers sightings of large pelagic all year.

As well as the usual stock of regulators and BCD’s, the school has a selection of wet suits and torches and also offers Nitrox free of charge.

Boat diving is available, usually with a choice of boats & dives graded to the experience of the divers, departing at 09.00 and 14.30 daily. There are around 30 dive sites which are from 5 to 60 minutes boat ride from the island. Due to its location in the atoll, the area may be dived all year with the opportunity to see Mantas & Whale sharks in season. The Dive Centre offers whole day trips 2 - 3 times per week.

'Sheena' Live-aboard dive boat

The 'Sheena' is a 24 metre Maldivian diving safari vessel based at Medhufushi Island Resort.

Built in 2005 and refurnished & modernised in June 2008, her experienced crew & highly motivated instructors will be happy to show you diving in the Maldives at its best.
