Kurumba island, Maldives

Kurumba Resort

Located just a short boat ride from Male, Kurumba Resort, has been named after the wonderful coconuts palms that grow in abundance throughout the island. Gorgeous shaded paths lead from one side of the island to the other of this 48 acre circular tropical paradise.

Completely renewed, it re-opened in 2004 as a resort of distinction, class and style and run with panache.

Scuba Diving

Manta Ray

With some amazing dive sites in close proximity, Kurumba is a favourite resort for scuba divers. Beginners are especially welcome and an open water divers certification could be obtained in a week's holiday. The resort's dive school is run to exacting PADI standards, by both Maldivian and foreign diving instructors.

House Reef diving. The depths of the stunning turquoise sea around Kurumba Village are home to coral growing on ancient volcanic mountains. The island’s surrounding reef – the House Reef is a magnificent, living ecosystem, just off the Kurumba Lagoon which invites exploration.

The top of the Kurumba House Reef is approx. 1-2 meters deep and slopes down from there to 10 – 30m (80m on the south side) from the edge. The Kurumba Wall slopes down to 20 – 40 meters where the sandy bottom begins. Progressing a little at a time you will discover the wonders of the house reef: millions of years of coral growth forming an island that teems with life both above and below the waters. Sea creatures abound in the Kurumba Reef - Hawksbill turtles, small reef sharks, blue fin tuna - a vast underwater ecosystem for you to explore.
