The Maldives

The Maldives is a chain of 26 atolls lying 600km Southwest of Sri Lanka at the Southern tip of India.

The archipelago is made up of about 1,200 small coral islands in the Indian Ocean, more than 1,000 of them uninhabited and none of them much above sea level.

All of the islands are covered in tropical vegetation and have beautiful white sand beaches, they provide visitors with one of the most breathtaking views of underwater life in the world.

Resort Islands in Maldives are self sufficient and have their own power, water, telecommunication, restaurants and transportation. Don't expect lots of nightlife, some resorts have perhaps two evenings a week that they arrange entertainment but do expect stunning beaches, good weather, friendly people, relaxation and great diving.

Aquatours offers a range of hotel resorts in the Maldives, and we can pre-book all your scuba diving for you too. The Maldives provide an ideal location to refresh, unwind and totally relax. With shallow lagoons formed by encircling coral reefs, holding back the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Aquatours have selected islands and hotels that vary in character and location, but offer clients idyllic surroundings, with friendly service and a gentle pace. Most food and drink is imported into the country, so you will find menus are varied and suited to western tastes. Fresh fish feature strongly in the Maldivian cuisine, with the local delicacy being a delicious fish curry.

Hotel based holidays are very popular with our travelers who are keen to do some diving, but do not want to spend a week on a live-aboard boat.

Live-aboard holidays

Aquatours offers a range of live-aboard dive boats in the Maldives.

These trips are typically 1-week duration and you spend the whole time onboard the boat.

A live-aboard holiday is most suitable for keen already qualified divers.
