Atoll Explorer liveaboard : Maldives

Atoll Explorer has been especially designed for Maldives live aboard diving cruises since 1996, when she became the first ship to offer first class cruising in the Maldives.

The atmosphere on board is that of an exclusive, well-run, floating family hotel. Expect no pretension - only dedication - to seeing that guests are comfortable and enjoying themselves. The ship's ambience is 'laid back'; there is no dressing up for dinner. Dress code is shorts and swimwear during the day and casual dress in the evening.

With a maximum of 40 passengers, guests soon get to know each other and every week-long cruise becomes a jolly party with friends. With its scuba diving activities and different dive sites and visits to luxury Maldivian resorts, villages & uninhabited islands, Atoll Explorer provides a unique and fun-filled way of getting to know the best that the Maldives has to offer.

The Maldives is a chain of 26 atolls, comprising 1,200 islands, lying 600km Southwest of Sri Lanka at the Southern tip of India.

ACCOMMODATION

Atoll Explorer has 20 guest cabins, each simply furnished with either a double bed or two single beds with attached bathrooms. All cabins have a window facing out to sea while some come with a small balcony. They are all equipped with air-conditioning, telephone, bathroom, shower area and wardrobe space. There are three cabin types to choose from:

Cabin 'A'
Total of 2 cabins. Size: 4m x 2.3m.
Cabin 'A' is the highest cabin category available on the Atoll Explorer and are located on the upper deck of the vessel. These cabins have a small balcony and come furnished with a double bed, air-conditioning, telephone, shower, bathroom amenities and wardrobe space.

Cabin 'B'
Total of 6 cabins. Size: 3.6m x 2.3m.
All cabin 'B' types are located on the upper deck of the vessel. They have a small balcony and come furnished with a double bed, air-conditioning, telephone, shower, bathroom amenities and wardrobe space.

Cabin 'C'
Total of 12 cabins. Size: 3.6m x 2.1m.
The cabin 'C' ranges are located on either the upper or lower deck of the vessel. They have a picture window and come furnished with either two single beds or a double bed, air-conditioning, telephone, shower, bathroom amenities and wardrobe space.

FOOD & DRINK ONBOARD

The vessel comes complete with a restaurant serving buffet-style meals and a bar with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Served to you either on deck under an awning during the day in the ships main dining area or on a deserted island under the stars, Patrick, the Head Chef ensures each meal will bring you 100% satisfaction for a memorable Maldives dining cruise.

Expect to be amazed as you enjoy the variety of a daytime island picnic, a fresh fish BBQ dinner or the Captain's hosted dinner on your final night.

FACILITIES & SERVICES

If you enjoy basking in the sun while you take in the fabulous sights and sounds of the Maldives, you can do so in one of our two sun decks available on board. Soak yourself in our Jacuzzi while you are at it.

Should you need basic amenities and toiletries or would like to bring a souvenir back with you, do visit the Souvenir Shop located on the main deck of the vessel.

SCUBA DIVING

Atoll Explorer has a fully equipped and professionally run diving base on board the ship. Operated by Euro Divers and exacting the high standards of PADI, the Dive Team welcomes both beginners and experienced divers. Euro-Divers Atoll Explorer is also a member of BASC friendly Centers.

Next to a full range of PADI beginners programs and courses and continuing education, Atoll Explorer offers diving with Nitrox for certified enriched air Divers and it is free.

The diving is adventurous and varies as the ship cruises through the atolls, giving you the opportunity to experience the fantastic dive areas in the Maldives. During each tour you will discover some of the most celebrated and famous dive sites in the world. Whale sharks, turtles, morays, lobster, octopus and stingrays will be your company as you discover the magnificent underwater world.

When visiting islands, snorkelling is a must. Ask our friendly crew for advise on the best snorkelling spots around each island.
