Malaysia Resorts:
East Coast Peninsula
The islands and the diving along the east coast Peninsular of Malaysia, are one of Asia's best kept secrets. Superb diving, with colourful hard, soft, whip coral and abundant fish life. The coral is in an excellent condition due to the existence of a conservation program overseen by the Fisheries Department and not being exposed to a huge number of divers. From June to October the waters are guaranteed flat calm, and visibility is good to great.
Several of the islands have turtle preservation projects and we have seen mating leatherback turtles at Pulau Redang.
Diving depths are anywhere between 5 and 35 meters on reefs, pinnacles and even a few wrecks. Reef fish are prolific on all sites with a good variation of species. Macro critters are in abundance as well and there are several promising muckdives that beg to be explored. Shark wise, the area offers blacktip, bamboo and zebra sharks and even an occasional whaleshark or manta ray.
