The
warm tropical seas, enriched with nutrients brought by the Indian Ocean
currents, provide ideal conditions for an astonishing variety of marine
life. The abundance of marine plants and animals are a scuba divers dream. The
waters around Pemba Island are spectacular, with visibility between 30-60
metres, and stunning blue-water drop-offs. Magnificent hard and soft coral
gardens, make the perfect home for manta rays, reef sharks, turtles and
clouds of reef fish. |

M.Y. Kisiwani, Pemba’s original dive live-aboard, pioneered live-aboard diving in this area in 1994. Kisiwani and her crew will take you on an adventurous, exotic, all-inclusive live-aboard diving holiday around the Island of Pemba in the Zanzibar Archipelago. Kisiwani is a 67 ft steel expedition vessel. She is fully kitted out for exploratory dive trips and offers spacious, comfortable accommodation for 10 guests in five twin, air-conditioned cabins. There is a large saloon with all the usual facilities and plenty of space for sunbathing and al-fresco dining up on the top deck. When not diving, additional activities include beach BBQ’s, fishing, walking on the Island, visiting local schools and villages etc. Diving is available 3-4 times a day, in small groups with experienced and knowledgeable guides & instructors. Accommodation is in six, twin air-conditioned cabins. There are 3 toilets and showers, deck shower, saloon bar & sundecks. Superb Food is prepared onboard by our chef, using the finest local produce. Special diets can be catered for on request. Non divers are welcome and activities including snorkelling, wind surfing and tours of the islands, can be arranged. The Jambo is a 23 metre sailing yacht that was built in 1990 and offers a unique liveaboard experience, diving the reefs around Pemba Island. A fantastic sight when in full sail, Jambo offers the ideal way to experience East Africa’s best and most remote diving. This elegant vessel boasts a spacious forward deck, ideal for topping up the tan between dives. In the salon there is a selection of books, a music system plus a TV and video, to relive those diving highlights. In the dining area there is a well stocked bar. Accommodation is in 5 air conditioned cabins, 3 double and 2 twin berthed. There are 3 bathrooms with a head and shower and plenty of hot & cold water. Jambo itinerary & Cuisine onboard The chef prepares a mix of international and local dishes using fresh local produce. The occasional spicy local dish adds interest and he’s happy to cater to special diets. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided, as well as tea, coffee, water and juice with breakfast. Soft drinks i.e. Coke, 7up etc and alcoholic drinks are paid for locally onboard.
